PL 338 - International Diplomatic Negotiations

An exploration of the techniques and practice of diplomatic negotiations as a peaceful way of resolving international disputes. The course addresses a variety of international negotiating problems (political, strategic, environmental, and economic) that involve different kinds of actors (great, intermediate, and small powers; intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations; and private groups) from various parts of the world in diverse settings (global, regional, and local). Theoretical materials and case studies are used to gain insight into the issues and questions involved in diplomatic negotiations.
