AH 217 - American Art Credits: 3 A survey of art produced in the United States from the Colonial period to the present. Recurring themes will include the roles of artists in American society, the relationship of U.S. and European cultures, the contrast and connection between popular and elite artistic traditions, the building of an infrastructure of art institutions, and government involvement in art patronage.
